Cone Beam Dental Tomography

Cone Beam Dental Tomography is a compact, fast and safe way of acquiring 3D dental imaging. Through the use of a cone shaped xray beam, the size of the scanner, radiation dose and time needed for scanning are all dramatically reduced.

Cone Beam provides superior spatial resolution compared to conventional CT and a radiation dose that is 10 – 50 times less than the conventional dental CT. The Cone beam scan will provide your practitioner with information that will enable a more accurate and thorough treatment.

Preparation

No preparation is needed for the scan. No booking is required.

You will be asked to remove any jewellery from the head and neck region prior to the scan.

Scan

The scan is performed while you are seated in the machine. The radiographer will position you as required, and ask you to stay very still. It is important that you remain completely still during the test.

The machine will spin around you whilst taking the scan. The scan itself takes less than 1 minute.

Results

Your images and report can be available on the same day for collection. They can also be provided on CD or electronic transfer to your referring practitioner if they so request.
