OPG
OPG, or Orthopatomogram machines passes in front of the face and produces X-rays which pass through the teeth and land on a special digital cassette. The digital cassette contains an image, just as a digital camera does, The cassette is then read by a computer, which generates the image. This image is the OPG, containing information about the teeth, gums and bones.
Preparation
You must have a referral form from a dentist or medical practitioner. No appointment is necessary. There is no other preparation required for OPG.
All OPG examinations will be performed by one of our experienced radiographers.
A single examination will take an average of 5 minutes.
Results
Most OPG results will be ready in less than half an hour.
You can wait for your results, or you can return and pick up the films and report at a later time. Norwest Medical Imaging strongly advise that you return to your referring dentist or doctor, in order for your doctor to discuss your OPG report with you.
